Region II A-AA – The Grafton girls led by Chanel Alexander’s 3rd place finish in 21:05 edged the ladies of Berkeley Springs (45-49) to capture the first place title of Region II A-AA champ. Rebecca McBride of Frankfort took the individual award with a time of 20:27. Sarah McCauley of Philip Barbour took 2nd with the only other sub 21 minute time in 20:40. Berkeley Springs won both the team and individual awards as they finished ahead of Philip Barbour (40-53). Lenny Roach led the Blue and Gold with his Region champion run in 17:08. Riley Freeman of Philip Barbour was region runner-up in 17:27. Advancing to the State meet are the girl teams of Grafton, Berkeley Springs and Franfort, and the boys teams of Berkeley Springs, Philip Barbour and Grafton. Region II AAA – Hampshire girls and Jefferson boys took the AAA Region II titles. Sophomore Letitia Propst of Elkins ran away from the field with an impressive time of 19:49 easily outdistancing 2nd and 3rd place finishers Alyssa Boucher (20:28) and Andrea Nickerson (20:29) of Jefferson. Freshman Danielle Lewis paced the ladies of Hampshire with a 5th place finish in 21:02. Jefferson boys led by Cory Hampshire (17:08) easily won the region meet with 33 points with 4 boys in the top 10. Hampshire, a senior, continued his outstanding season by adding another title to his resume as he won the region meet over 2nd place finisher and senior John Paul Binotto (17:35) of Hampshire. Advancing to State meet are the girl teams of Hampshire, Buckhannon-Upshur, and Jefferson, and the boy teams of Jefferson, Hampshire, and Musselman.
