(PRINCETON, W.Va.)---West Virginia Conference championships will be up for grabs on Saturday when the league\'s men\'s and women\'s cross country teams gather at Pipestem State Park. Local favorite Concord and traditional power West Virginia Wesleyan are the teams to beat on the men\'s side, while Wesleyan, Charleston, and Alderson-Broaddus are the favorites in the women\'s meet.

Greensboro, NC -- The Concord Mountain Lions are peaking at the right time as they won the coveted wooden 1st place trophy of the Greensboro Cross Country Invitational held at Hagan Stone Park by team effort over St. Andrews Presbyterian College Knights of Laurinburg NC. St. Andrews placed three runners ahead of Concord University of Athens, WV, but the Concord depth was too much too overcome. The knights placed runners in the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 12th, and 42nd spots. However, the talented Mountain Lion squad placed 5 runners in the top 15 and had 7 runners in the top 23 places. Randy Horner finished in 7th (27:33.6) followed by Chris Herron in 8th (27:38.3), Chris Snell in 13th (27:47.7), Ryan Kent in 14th (27:48.90), and Scott Grose in 15th (27:52.6).

The Concord Mountain Lions put on an awesome display of teamwork and unity as eight runners crossed the line within a span of .10 seconds and claimed the top 10 spots for a perfect score of 15 points. The lady lions also claimed 1st place with a perfect score and their race will be discussed later in the article. Concord University

PRINCETON, W.VA)---Traditional WVIAC men\'s cross country power West Virginia Wesleyan is the top choice by league coaches to claim top honors in 2006. Head coach Jesse Skiles\' Bobcats earned five of eleven first place votes to lead the balloting.
