Meet Information
The Athens Mile is a one mile road race sponsored by the Princeton Church of God. Race entry forms can be found at www.athensmile.com , or you can contact Lance McDaniel at lmcdaniel@pcogwv.com for more information and a race form! Below is basic info:
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Athens Mile begins at 9:00 am on Vermillion Street near the red light. Runners/walkers will make their way down Vermillion Street towards Concord University. They will turn left onto campus at the entrance of Concord and make their way around the university to the track and football stadium. The participants will turn right into the stadium parking lot and continue onto the track where they will finish.

CLYDESDALE DIVISION
Are you a man who likes to race but think its unfair since youre...well, heavier than most runners? If so, this is the division for you! Sign up as a Clydesdale runner and compete against those of equal...mass. Clydesdale runners will run with the rest of the runners, but will receive their own awards! You must be a male and at least 200 lbs to enter as a Clydesdale. You will not be able to receive an age group award if you enter as a Clydesdale. If you weigh over 200 lbs you do not have to enter the Clydesdale division...feel free to compete with the other runners and walkers!
T-SHIRTS
Race t-shirts are guaranteed to all mile racers who register early. Those who register late or on the day of the race are not guaranteed a shirt. Kids Quarter Mile racers will not receive a t-shirt.
AWARDS
Athens Mile Run: Top 3 overall male and female will receive awards. Top 3 male and female in each age group will receive awards. Top 3 Clydesdales will receive awards. You may only receive one award.
Kids Quarter Mile: Ribbons Will be awarded to all finishers of the Kids Quarter Mile as they finish.

WHERE DOES OUR MONEY GO??
Proceeds made by the race will go to the Princeton Church of God Running Club to help with future events and various running club expenses.
DIRECTIONS TO RACE
From Blacksburg, VA (1 hour): Take US-460 West towards Bluefield. Go approximately 50 miles then merge onto I-77 North. Take Exit 14 and turn right at the end of the ramp onto Mercer Springs Road. Drive approximately 2.7 miles to the end of the road. Turn left at the stop sign onto Rt. 20. Drive approximately 2 miles and take a right at the first and only stop light you come to, onto Vermillion Street. Turn left .5 miles down the road onto the campus of Concord University. Follow the road around campus to the football/track stadium parking, which will be on your right.
From Charleston (1.5 hours) /Beckley, WV (35 minutes): Take I-77 South to exit 14. Turn left at the end of the exit ramp onto Mercer Springs Road. Drive approximately 2.7 miles to the end of the road. Turn left at stop sign onto Rt. 20. Drive approximately 2 miles and take a right at the first and only stop light you come to, onto Vermillion Street. Turn left .5 miles down the road onto the campus of Concord University. Follow the road around campus to the football/track stadium parking, which will be on your right.
From Wytheville, VA (40 minutes): Take I-77 North to West Virginia. Take exit 14 and turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Mercer Springs Road. Drive approximately 2.7 miles to the end of the road. Turn left at stop sign onto Rt. 20. Drive approximately 2 miles and take a right at the first and only stop light you come to, onto Vermillion Street. Turn left .5 miles down the road onto the campus of Concord University. Follow the road around campus to the football/track stadium parking, which will be on your right.
From Bluefield, WV/VA (30 minutes): Take US-460 East towards Princeton/Blacksburg. Turn onto I-77 North. Take exit 14 and turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Mercer Springs Road.
