Two of the nation's best in Cabell Midland's junior Jacob Burcham and Jacob Thomson, junior from Holy Cross High School, of Lousiville, KY, meet again at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational being held on Saturday September 17, 2011.
Thomson was within 12 seconds of US #2 Futsum Zeinasellassie 2 weeks ago and beat Burcham last year at this meet. In 2009 Thomson was the Foot Locker freshman champion. Thomson was the 1600m champion at the Kentucky high school track and field championship.

Burcham (US#6) is the defending West Virginia State 3A champion. He ran the Cabell Midland course in a course record 15:12. Burcham won all 3 distance events at the outdoor state championship (1600m -4:08.80, 3200m – 9:11.29, and the 800m in 1:54.01). In the post season Burcham ran The Dream Mile in New York posting an impressive time of 4:07.66. He followed it up by winning the 1,500-meter run at the IAAF National Youth Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Burcham’s most impressive feat came at the IAAF World Youth Championship when he placed seventh overall in the 1500m with a time of 3:46.55.

The Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational is the oldest Invitational in Kentucky, and marks the 56th year that Trinity has hosted the meet.
