WV Region II AA – Weston. Freshman Bria Welker of Frankfort won 4 events and led her team to a 10 point victory over 2nd place Keyser 94-84. Berkeley Springs finished a close 3rd with 82 points. Welker won all 3 sprint events (100m - 12.54, 200m - 26.79, and 400m - 59.36) and took the long jump (17-04.75”) by almost two feet.
Harlie Stotler, a freshman, from Berkeley Springs had a Milesplit National Elite throw of 40’-3.75” in the shot put. Junior Sarah McCauley of Philip Barbour won the 1600m (5:21.95) and the 3200m (11:45.52) for the meet’s only other double winner.
Keyser took the boys Region II AA title on a total team effort gathering 121 points on only two individual titles and two relay events (Shuttle hurdles and 4 x 400m) wins. Berkeley Springs claimed the runner-up spot with 101 points and Liberty Harrison grabbed 3rd place with 73 points. Keyser runners Junior Peyton Harmon won the high jump with a height of 6’-04” and junior Tavern Rohrbuagh won the 800m run in 2:02.34.
Sophomore Brandon Franklin of Liberty Harrison was the most outstanding male athlete of the meet as he won all 3 dash events. Franklin cruised to wins in the 100m (11.15), 200m (22.74) and 400m (50.81).
Double winners were seniors Tristan Reneau of Grafton and Tyler Faulkiner of Philip Barbour. Reneau won both hurdle events as he raced to a 15.31 clocking in the 110m high hurdles and a 40.18 showing in the 300m hurdles. Faulkiner won the discus (136’ 10”) and the shot put (46’-05”)
