Wesleyan men's track stand-outs Ricky Kump (pictured) and Cuylor Edgell earned NCAA provisional qualifier status in the heptathlon over the weekend at the University of Akron Invitational.
For the meet, Kump finished with 4,801 total points. His best event performance came in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.08 seconds earning him 854 points.
Kump's next best outing came in the 1,000 meter run with a time of 2:49.13 for 775 points. He also broke the 700 point mark in the 60 meter hurdles as his time of 9.05 awarded him 735 points.
Edgell meanwhile tallied 4,586 total points over the two-day event. His highest performance also came in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.35 which earned him 762 points.
Edgell broke the 700 point mark in the long jump with a leap of 21-6 for 709 points and the 1,000 meter dash as his time of 2:50.60 earned him 759 points.
The rest of the Wesleyan track and field team, meanwhile, travelled to the Gold and Blue meet at West Virginia University.
Kevoy Douglas had a stand out performance for the men, setting a school record in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.91.
Other first place finishes on the men's side included a personal record 60 meter hurdle time of 8.60 by Dwight Holden and the one mile run with Barry Franklin winning in 4:32.29.
Julio Villatoro also set a new personal record with a second place throw of 46-4 in the shot put.
For the women, Jasmine Claggett continued her strong indoor season by winning the triple jump with a leap of 34-2.
Other top three performances included Jami Fonner's second place clearance of 10-0 in the pole vault and Ali Curry's third place high jump mark of 4-10
