Meet Information
8/27/11 - Knight Night XC Relays, Preston HS, Kingwood, WV. Grades 6-12. Contact Paul Martin at 304-290-3772.
When: Saturday, August 27, 2011
Dear Coaches,
Construction is set to commence on an all-weather playing surface on the inside of the current track and field complex on Monday, August 22nd. We had asked that this project be delayed until after the Knight Night Relays on August 27th, but this request was denied by the Superintendent of Schools. In order to assure a safe environment for athletes and spectators alike, we have been forced to relocate the 2011 Knight Night Relays to East Preston Middle School / Terra Alta Elementary in Terra Alta, West Virginia.
East Preston Middle School is located 10.6 miles east of the Preston High Campus. From Kingwood, drivers would need to continue on Route 7 East to the town of Terra Alta. East Preston Middle School is located on the east side of town directly off of Route 7.
The East Preston campus has a large amount of acreage and has hosted cross country meets in the past. We believe we have created a course equal to or better than the one at Preston High School. We want to assure all the teams that plan to attend that we will include all the features that make the Knight Night Relays unique. For instance, we will start each race with fireworks, athletes will carry glowsticks, and the course will be illuminated with tikki torches, light towers, and the lights from the East Preston football field. The following high schools plan to attend the meet as of August 12, 2011: Bridgeport, Charleston Catholic, East Fairmont, Jefferson, Morgantown, North Marion, Parkersburg, Preston, Trinity, University. The following middle schools have indicated that they plan to attend: Bridgeport, Bruceton, Central Preston, Kasson, South Preston, South Morgantown, Suncrest, Washington Irving, and West Preston.
We apologize for any inconvenience the change of venue creates for your team. Our goal is to host an event at the same level of organization that teams have been accustomed to in the past. Below is the schedule of events and general information for the 2011 Knight Night XC Relays
