WV Region III AAA - - Charleston. Woodrow Wilson led by senior Moriah Njoku’s two victories in the 100m (13.04) and 200m (26.34) took the girls Region III AAA crown with 158 points to runner-up Nicholas County’s 109, and 3rd place finisher George Washington with 105 points. The Woodrow Wilson ladies claimed 4 of the 5 relay events to dominate the meet. Sophomore Morgan Kesecker of Nicholas County guided her 2nd place team by gathering 28 individual points in winning the 1600m (5:44.27) and 3200m (12:53.05), and by placing 2nd in the 800m (2:31.90). Leigh Poindexter, a junior, from George Washington won both the shot put (35’-02”) and discus (96’-07.5”). The George Washington boy’s team with 138 points turned in a solid team performance to easily win the region crown. Greenbrier East finished 2nd with 83 points and South Charleston was 3rd with 72.50 points. Senior Shaquille Williams (100m in 11.38) and Robert Thomas (800m in 2:06.78) were the lone individual winners for the champions. George Washington also claimed the 4 x 100m relay title in 44.45. Raheem Waiters a senior from Riverside turned in the solo National Elite performance with a throw of 158’ 9” in the discus.
