HOUSTON- The Thundering Herd track and field team recorded 11 new season best times/distances at the Conference USA indoor track and field championship in Houston, Texas, on Friday and Saturday. Overall, Marshall finished 12th at the championship while Houston claimed the title.
Marshall\'s highest finish came from LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) in the shot put. Her heave of 43\'03 placed her in fifth and also is a new personal best throw this season. Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) threw for eighth with a distance of 42\'0. Jessica Pissini (Hermitage, Pa.) recorded a new season best, 40\'03, and finished in 12th place.
In the one-mile run Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.) ran to a 18th place finish with her time of 5:24.35. Finishing three spots behind Eastman, Stephanie Achilles (Deptford, N.J.) recorded her season best finish with a time of 5:41.90. Anna Chaney (Huntington, W.Va.) finished in 22nd with her run of 5:47.84.
Hannak Kovarik (Hurricane, W.Va.) ran a season best in the 3000m with her time of 10:59.64. In the 5000m Kovarik also recorded a season best time of 18:59.46 for 16th place. In the 5000m Marian Brooks (Flat Top, W.Va.) missed scoring points for Marshall by just one second. Her time of 18:03.57 earned her ninth place.
Quinnyana Brown (Amherst, N.Y.) improved her season best long jump by eight inches this weekend. Her previous season best leap was 17\'0. Brown finished the long jump in 14th with her jump of 17\'8.
Sprinting in the 60m for Marshall was Tekisha Martin (Michigan City, Ind.). Martin recorded a season best time of 7.92 for 23rd place. Martin also recorded a season best in the 60m hurdles. Her time of 9.11 earned her 12th in the contest.
Also recording a season best in the 60m hurdles was Breanna Jones (Columbia, S.C.). Jones earned 16th place with her time of 9.26.
In the 200m Xavier Richards (Kingston, Jamaica) finished 22nd with her season best time of 26.12.
