Jacob Burcham, a junior from Cabell Midland High School, earned All-American honors and completed a great weekend of running by taking 3rd in the mile in 4:10.82 at the prestigious New Balance Indoor Nationals today The Armory Track & Field Center in New York, NY.
The first six finishers in each event attending who reside in the U.S. or its possessions will be named to the 2012 New Balance Indoor Nationals All America Team and receive All America certificates. This applies to the high school division only and not to the freshman or Emerging Elite division.

Brad Nye of Davis High School in Kaysville, UT pulled the upset over the favorite but tired Edward Cheserek by outkicking the St. Benedict's Prep standout of Newark, NJ in a winning time of 4:08.67. Nye was watching from a safe distance as Burcham and Cheserek battled it out for most of the race, and when fresh legs were needed Nye was the only one able to get more out of his body. Nye ran a 59 second last quarter of mile. Cheserek took 2nd in 4:09.07.

On Saturday Burcham led his Ona Elite 4 x 800m relay team to a 17th place finish with a school record time of 8:01.24. Burcham posted a 1:53 in running the first leg.
