WVU Has Success at Shell Games

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University indoor track team hosted the State Farm Shell Games on Friday, Feb. 3, at the WVU Shell Building.

Senior Nancy Regalbuto set a new season high in the high jump with a height of 1.74m to take the title. Regalbuto now has four titles in five high jump competitions this season.

Senior distance runner Susan Davis took the top spot in the women's one mile run (5:03.62), while sophomore Alison Spiker followed right behind Davis at 5:03.88 for second place.

Senior Junique Morris placed second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.27, while freshman Jamillah Nock came in third at 7.45. Freshman Karly Hamric and sophomore Roshawna Mongold finished second and third, respectively, in the 500-meter dash.

In the throwing events, Abbie Stechschulte had a throw of 11.95m in the shotput to place third and Michele McGinnis landed second in the weight throw at 15.02m.

"We had a great meet tonight for our team," head coach Jeff Huntoon said. "Hopefully, we can keep the momentum going for the next two weeks into the BIG EAST championships."

Mountaineer runners Shani Boone, Jessica Czaikowski, Raeleen Hunter, Morris and Stechschulte will all compete in the Akron Open in Akron, Ohio, Saturday, Feb. 4, to try to post more BIG EAST qualifying times in certain events.
