CU Claims Six Victories In Season-Opening Indoor Meet

The New Year won't start until January, but Concord's track and field teams began their new indoor season at the Marietta College First Glimpse meet on Saturday.

The Mountain Lions celebrated the new year with six victories, three each for the women's and men's teams, at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center in Marietta, OH.

Robbie Peters paced CU withtwo wins -- the mile, and the 3000 meters.  R.J. Anderson claimed victory in the 55 meter dash.

Megan Savioli won the women's 55 meters.  Concord's other two triumphs came from women's relay teams – the 4 x 200 (Brittany Pratt, Lydia Powell, Casey Ord, Demi Kirk) and the 4 x 400 (Savioli, Powell, Ord, Kirk).

Other highlight showings came from Ord, who was 2nd in the triple jump and 4th in the long jump, and Donnie Kirk, who placed 3rd in the 55 meters.

 

The Mountain Lions will return to competition at the Virginia Tech Invitational on January 13, 2012, at the Rector Fieldhouse in Blacksburg, VA.
