Williamstown Girls Shine, St. Marys Boys Win
The girls of Williamstown High School were all business at the Region IV A meet, taking home the win with 217 points. They placed first in an amazing 11 or 19 events. Taking home the runner up trophy was St. Marys High School in 114 points. On the boys side it was St. Marys taking home the victory. Led by junior Derek Renner the Blue Devils scored 156 points, besting their closest competition, Williamstown High by 42 points.
Kylie Hammer helped lead the Williamstown girls to their victory winning the 100 meter hurdles (16.60), and running a leg on the winning 4x100 meter relay (52.00) and 4x102.5 shuttle hurdle relay (1:07.45) races. Williamstown was hot on the relays winning two more: the 4x200 meter relay (1:50.14) and the 4x400 meter relay (4:21.62). Senior Shila Allman won both the Shot Put (30-08.00) and the Discus (114-02) for Williamstown. Other impressive performances of the day came from Charleston Catholic sophomore Sami Harris and St. Marys sophomore Maggie Drazba. Harris won both the 1600 (5:31.31) and the 3200 meter race (11:48.56). Drazba out kicked Harris in the 800 winning in 2:25.10. She also ran a leg on the winning 4x800 meter relay (10:31.94).
Dylan McNutt, a senior from Williamstown High School led the individual performances of the day placing first in both the 110 meter high hurdles (15.76) and the 300 meter hurdles (41.35), as well as running a leg on the winning 4x100 meter relay race (46.16). But it was the performances of St. Marys upperclassmen, Derek Renner and Hayden Ullman that sealed the deal for the Blue Devils. Renner broke the tape in the 400 meter dash (52.16), placed second in the 100 meter and 200 meter dash, and had a leg on the winning 4x400 meter relay race (3:40.90). Ullman was the top thrower for the day winning both the Shot Put (47-02.50) and the Discus (129-05).
