Doddridge Sweeps Region I

 

Both the boys and the girls saw the same team results at the Region I A meet with Doddridge County taking first and Wheeling Central Catholic taking second.  D’Andra Swiger, Bethany Carroll, and Sarah Ferguson led the way for Doddridge in their victory on the girls side.  Daniel Plaugher, Caleb Moore, and Dillon Muhly-Alexander let the way for Doddridge in their victory on the boys side.

 

D’Andra Swiger had on outstanding meet with three victories.  She took first in both the 400 meters (1:04.26) and the 300 meter hurdles (49.28), as well as the High Jump (5-00.00).  She also took second in the Long Jump (15-00.00).  Bethany Carroll had a double victory in the 1600 meters (6:06.04) and the 3200 meters (13:36.64), as well as a second place finish in the 800 meter race (2:36).  Rounding out the outstanding meet by Doddridge was Sarah Ferguson who won both the 100 meter hurdles (15.87) and the Long Jump (15-00.25), and took second in the 300 meter hurdles (50.32).  Another outstanding victory for Doddridge came in the Pole Vault, where Kelsie Marple tied the region meet record with her vault of 8-00.00.

 

Leading Doddridge to victory on the boys side was Daniel Plaugher, a sophomore, who won the 400 meters (53.49), the 110 meter hurdles (15.95), the 300 meter hurdles (42.17), and helped his team to a victory in the 110 meter shuttle hurdles (1:02.49).  Caleb Moore brought home victories for Doddridge in the 1600 meters (4:59.31), the 3200 meters (10:46.30), and the 4x800 meter relay where he helped his team win by 25 seconds in a time of 9:36.45.  Dillon Muhly-Alexander also had a big part in Doddridge’s success of the day with wins in both the High Jump (6-00.00) and Long Jump (19-03.00).  Other notable performances on the boys side include Wheeling Central Catholic’s Aaron Schneid’s double victory in the Shot Put and the Discus; and Wheeling Central’s Daniel Scott’s winning region record jump in the Pole Vault with a vault of 13-00.00.
