Treadway, Brown lead Oak Hill to boys’ team title
Shady Spring girls’ jump past competition
Oak Hill won the boys’ team time with relative ease over second place Greenbrier West 116-89. Oak Hill was powered by two impressive individual efforts from senior distance runner Scotty Treadway and sophomore sprinter Jovarre Brown. Treadway won both the boys’ 1600-meter run and 3200-meter run with times of 4:52.48 and 10:42.17. Treadway narrowly lost the 800-meter run to Independence’s Isaac Caleb. Brown won both the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. His time of 23.36 in the 200 was a season-best, while his time of 52.77 puts him in the top 10 statewide with the state meet on the horizon. Brown also finished third in the 100-meter dash. The Shady Spring girls’ won the team title over second place PikeView by a margin of 140-87. The Tigers relied heavily on their hurdlers and relay teams to earn the victory. Junior Kristin Boyd and freshman Josie Thomas placed second and third respectively in the 100-meter high hurdles. Later in the meet, Boyd placed first in the 300-meter low hurdles. Fellow junior Amber Summers was third in the event. Shady Spring won the girls’ 4x100, 4x200, 4x400-meter dashes and Shuttle Hurdle relay as well.
