Marshall Records Three Top 10 Finishes at Kentucky Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Marshall University women's track and field team had three student-athletes finish in the top 10 in their event at the Kentucky Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Vanessa Jules finished sixth in the high jump with a height of 5-07.25 feet (1.71m) which is two inches shy of her school record.

Also finishing in the top 10 at UK were freshman Amanda Hottenstein in the shot put and Elaine Derricott in the triple jump. Hottenstein placed 10th with a distance of 44-00.50 feet (13.42m). Derricott also placed 10th with her best distance in the triple jump of 37.06 feet (11.43m).

Other notable performers were Amber Pierson who ran a 1:01.33 in the 400-meter dash and Heather Saffel who posted a time of 2:23 in the 800-meter run.

The Thundering Herd is back in action next weekend at the Gladstein Invitational, hosted by Indiana University
