WV Region IV AA – Charleston. Senior Jacob Rollo of Sherman and Concord University bound collected 4 individual Region IV AA titles as he led Sherman with a meet high 40 points to tie with Sissonville with 123 points. Poca made it interesting with 115 points and good enough for a solid 3rd place finish. Sissonville did not have a single individual win, but got their points from a total team effort.
Rollo won the 100m (11.25), 200m (23.29), high jump (6’-0”), and the long jump (19’-09.5”). Chase Nelson of Scott pulled off a double win in the 800m (2:09.26) and 1600m (4:50.64).
Poca with 156 points won the girls Region IV AA title with a landslide victory over 2nd place Wayne (103 points) and 3rd place Scott (88 points). Andrian Cunningham paced Poca with 22.5 points as she won the 100m hurdles in 17.02, the 300m hurdles in 48.09, and was a member of the winning shuttle hurdle relay team. Junior Shannon Rutherford led Wayne with a double victory in the 400m (1:00.89) and 800m (2:25.66).
Demi Kirk, senior from Sherman, scored 36 points by winning the 100m dash in 13.12 and the long jump in 14’-10.75”. Kirk also placed 2nd in the 200m dash (27.54) to her sister Donnie (27.33) and 2nd in the 400m in 1:03.81.
