Boys Races

It was a great battle up front in the Boys Challenge Race. Oregon commit and nationally-ranked Larry Josh Edwards of University (WV) came away with the victory in 15:11 for his second victory of the season in Pennsylvania.

CJ Singleton of Butler had a big day, clocking a 15:27 to take second to Edwards. That's the fastest XC 5K of Singleton's career and a big statement for the Notre Dame commit. Centennial's (MD) Antonio Camacho-Bucks went 15:33 in what turned into a very competitive race up front.

Yorktown's (VA) Owen McArdle was fourth in 15:38, and Aidan Hodge of Hempfield ran well to take fifth in 15:40. PTXC champion James Glebocki of Severna Park (MD) was sixth in15:47, followed by Matthew O'Brien of Susquehannock in seventh in 15:48.

The team raced was razor-thin close. Severna Park (MD) edged out University High (WV) by a single point, 101-102. LaSalle College made a big statement, taking third with 107 points. Drew Brill led the way for LaSalle, taking eighth in 15:50 and Zachary Brill (16th) and Ryan McGinley (20th) also placed inside the top 20.

Hempfield was a strong fourth with 206 points, followed by Loudoun Valley (VA) in fifth with 275. The hosts Carlisle were sixth with 284.

In the Champions Race, Upper Dublin took the top two spots with Matt Castronuovo taking the win in 16:22 and Gus Platt taking second in 16:25. It was a strong day for the Cardinals duo. Central Cambria won the team title with 67 points and a slim 46 second 1-5 gap.



Girls Races

Thais Rolly of McLean (VA) picked up the individual title in the Challenge Race, pulling away from the field and clocking a 17:58 for the win, her first inviational victory of the season. Greencastle-Antrim's Claire Paci took second, running her fastest-ever XC 5K with a 18:13 -- a strong outing for the sophomore.

Chambersburg's Camryn Kiser was third in 18:24 and VA took the next two spots with Yorktown's Anna Macon Corcoran in fourth and Loudoun Valley's Scarlet Fetterolf in fifth. Downigntown West's Carolyn Tarpley placed sixth in 18:49, Hershey's Brooke Preputnick took seventh in 18:54, and JP McCaskey's Isabella Shertzer placing eighth in 18:55.

The Dallastown girls proved to be very strong with a full squad effort to grab the team title. The Challenge race winners put three girls in the top 14, with Lydia Tolerico (11th), Kailey Granger (13th), and Victoria Rodriguez (14th) leading the way. Dallstown scored 106 points. Downingtown West made a nice 5K season debut, taking second with 146 points. Loudoun Valley was third and Hershey was fourth.

In the Champions Race, it was all Central Cambria on the team side. The top-ranked AA team in PA scored just 54 points to win by 73 points. Annaliese Niebauer paced CC with a third place finish. The Red Devils also placed fifth in the full meet merge, ahead of a number of strong AAA teams. Lewisburg Area took second with 127 points.

Caroline Gregory of Frederick (MD) won the individual title in 19:27. Lancaster Mennonite's Claire Thomas was second in 19:41.
