Records Fall As Concord Athletes Sweep WVIAC Track Multi-Events

(WHEELING, W.Va.)---Day two of the WVIAC Multi-event Championships saw the Heptathlon and Decathlon records drop. In the Women's Heptathlon Concord's Karachi Mbagwu defending her title with a total of 4188 pts and setting a new meet record. Mbagwu completed the day with a 2:25.49 perform in the 800m for a new event record. WV Wesleyan's Katie Schubert was the only women to make a move on Mbagwu, moving from 4th place after day one to finish 2nd overall and 3718 pts. Glenville's Camai Roberson finshed 3rd  with a total of 3661 pts.

On the men's side Concord's Dustin Greenwood had the best performance on the day. Greenwood finished the day with a score of 6298 pts setting a new meet record held by Wheeling Jesuit's three-time defending champion Aaron Rosier and just missing the NCAA Provissional qualifying mark by 2 points. Despite missing the NCAA mark in the Decathlon Green did hit the NCAA provisional mark in the Javelin with a distance of 62.89m (206-4) which currently places if 7th in NCAA Division II. Teammates Sloan Baisden and Grant Burton of WV Wesleyan finished 2nd and 3rd respectively with 5523pts and 5272pts.

The scores from today will care over to next week's Track & Field Championships which will get on the way at Wheeling Jesuit University on Thursday and Friday April 24-25, 2008.
