Eric Cooper (Photo by Mary McDaniel), the two-time defending WVIAC Cross-Country champion, qualified for the NCAA Division II National Meet with a seventh place finish. Cooper went out with the leaders and never fail below 7th place overall during the meet. Cooper finished the 10K course in 31:26. Mansfield senior Chris Cummings joined Cooper as individual representatives with a 3rd place finish in 31:11. Edinboro won the meet and Slippery Rock finished 2nd to earn NCAA bids to the finals.
Sarah Campanelli of Wheeling Jesuit was the highest finishing lady from the WVIAC with a 23rd place finish in the 6K race with a time of 22:39.
The NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships is on Nov. 17 at Missouri Southern State University. The men’s 10K race begins at 11:30 a.m.
