Outstanding distace runner Joe Kirtner from Winfeld is the 2nd top recruit out of the state of West Virginia to sign to run with Morehead State University of Kentucky.
Kirtner placed 3rd in the 1600m at the AAA Outdoor West Virginia State Championships with a elite time of 4:19.81. Krtner's best time is in the 5000m is 15:47.20 when he took first in the Great American Cross Country Festival with the state's 3rd fastest time of the year.

UPDATE: Kirtner ran 4:20.17 at the UK High School Invitational in Lexington, Ky the 1 mile Run! That's equivalent of running a 4:18.57 1600 meter run.
