Elite mile and 800 fields loaded and deep with top professional runners will be featured in tonight's DCRR Track Championships as the final to this summer's Eastern Track League with races starting at 4:44 PM from Dunbar High School in Washington, D.C.

If you are a high school athlete, coach, or parent in the DMV area, it is a rare opportunity to go watch professional athletes and a meet of this caliber at that level locally. The pro portion of the meet starts at 5:59 PM and lasts until 8 PM for 2 hours of fast times by pro sponsored athletes with some incredible credentials at high school, collegiate, and pro level attached to their names.

Each of the top races will have pacers to pull them along to fast times as well as prize money to motivate the runners to go for the win.

There has never been a sub 4 minute run ever run within the boundaries of the District of Columbia, so the likelihood of that happening with a pro men's field at the DCRR Championships which includes 9 entrants who have run under the time barrier in the past makes for a high probability for history to be made within D.C. on Saturday night. A few in the field will be chasing the U.S. Champs standard of 3:56.50 as well.

One name that many might recognize in the field is Mikey Brannigan, who has an incredible story overcoming autism to be a well functioning and fast runner in high school and now professionally with a 3:57 PR in the mile. Local ties include

The women's 1500 has some big names in the field led by Elinor Purrier at the top of the list with her 4:02.34 best in the event, which converts under 4:20 for 1600 meters to give a perspective to high school runners. Purrier was a standout and NCAA champion at New Hampshire before becoming a professional runner for New Balance.

How deep is the men's 800? How about 3 heats of guys all under 1:50 with their personal bests including a smoking fast fast section which could see some guys hitting the World Champs (1:45.80) and/or Olympic (1:45.20) standards. Eric Slowinski and Isaiah Harris are two most well known names in the field having achieved success both at the U.S. Champ level as well as internationally with PR's at 1:44, while local rooting interest belongs to the two top half milers for the D.C. Track Club's Quamel Prince and Ebose Ibadin with the fastest two season best's in the field in the 1:45's.

Could we see a sub 2 in the women's 800? One name that many high school coaches and athletes can easily spot in the entry list is Sammy Watson, who had a historic high school career in New York just graduating 2 years ago before winning NCAA titles at Texas A&M and turning pro halfway thru college. Watson has the third fastest PR in the women's 800 field at the DCRR Track Championships with quite a few girls on the field knocking on the door of sub 2 minutes congested at either 2:00 or 2:01 for their personal bests.

So highly recommend any high school coach, athlete, or parent that is available or interested to make their way to D.C. to catch the action tonight at Dunbar High School. Take the metro, get a lyft/uber/taxi, or find street parking. Whatever it takes to be there. Get some autographs, get a chance to shake hands or talk to some of your running heroes and role models. Help cheer these athletes onto fast times and create a great atmosphere for racing.

If you can't for whatever reason attend, the meet will also be LIVE streamed on FloTrack. If you upgrade or signup for MileSplit Universal, you will get full access to the stream on FloTrack.
