Frosh Jayson Ward May Just Be What Bird Needed

L.C. Bird is a championship team and one that has put together some monster performances these past two years. The addition of freshman Jayson Ward though may push them over the edge and into the hunt for multiple national titles.

Who is Jayson Ward?

Jayson Ward is a freshman at L.C. Bird who already leads the state for freshmen in the 300 and is second in the 500 but led for over a month. He also ranks VA #7 in the 1K for VA frosh as well.

What he really is though is that extra leg on both the Bird 4x8 and 4x4 that they have been looking for. Though they have had quite stellar relay squads they have been needing a little bit more speed and depth on those relays. This is the type of depth that will allow them to start winning some huge title.

He is on pace to run nearly as fast as EJ Richardson did as a freshman when he set national class records.

When you combine Ward's speed with their burgeoning distance and sprint group you get quite the relay quartet. The Hill twins are certainly happy about their relay title hopes this indoor season now after seeing so much speed and strength early on from Jayson.
