There were several jaw dropping performances by the youth of West Virginia at the WV AAU Junior Olympics National Qualifier. The future of track and field in West Virginia is going to be in good hands.   I will mention a few, but check out the results for all of the outstanding times and marks from yesterday's meet.   Nine year old Victoria Starcher from Ripley ran the 400m dash in 1:11.43. Thirteen year old Samuel Thomas from Charleston may have the most impressive early resume of all. Thomas competing in the sub-youth division won the 1500m run in 4:48.72 and the 3000m in 10:15.01. These are national caliber times for the sub-youth division. Perhaps an All-American title or two may come his way at the National AAU meet. Fourteen year old Jordan Dieffenbach from Morgantown high jumped 5' 6" and fourteen year old Lauren London from Hurricane pole vaulted 9' 6".   Congrats to all the AAU athletes.
