Jacob Burcham followed up where he left off during the Indoor track season with a strong 1600-meter performance at the Carlos Akers Memorial Track & Field Meet with a US #4 performance in a time of 4:11.49. The time wasn’t a personal best, but it’s still early in the season.
As weeks of warm temperatures and sunshine turned wet and blustery, the Jefferson boys and Millbrook girls posted victories on Saturday in the Jim Taylor Relays at Jefferson High School in Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia.
In case you haven’t heard the bad news yet, the 2012 track season will be without Charleston Catholic distance stand-out Sami Harris.
You may assume that the two top competitors at the McKinley Invitational, Horace Mann Middle’s Samuel Thomas, 14, and Winfield Middle’s Braxton McMillion, 13, would be bitter rivals. You would be wrong to think that.
Buckhannon-Upshur junior high jumper Emily Godwin begins outdoor season on a positive note this past Saturday at the Point Pleasant HCSM First Call Invitational, winning the event with a jump of 5’-06”.

Last weekend, Jefferson High School sprinter Dante’ Price capped off a successful winter training season by taking second in the New Balance Indoor Nationals Emerging Elite 60 meter dash at The Armory in NYC. In competing at New Balance, Price hoped to compare himself to the best, “I was there to get the experience of being in a meet like that…competing with US #1’s, 2’s and 3’s.”
Maggie Drazba and Josh Simpson will compete at the the 2012 North America, Central American, & Caribbean (NACAC) Cross Country Championships, which will be conducted in Port of Spain, Trinidad on March 17th, 2012.

Dante Price,a junior, from Jefferson High School out of Shenandoah Junction, West Virgina claimed 2nd in the emerging elite 60m dash Friday wth a persoal best time of 6.94 at the New Balance Indoor Nationals to be held at The Armory Track and Field Center.
Jordan Brown-Stobbe, a senior, from University High School in Morgantown, WV, ran a personal best 9:27 in the Boys 2 Mile Run Emerging Elite at the 2012 New Balance Indoor Nationals. Brown-Stobbe has signed to run with Marshall University.
