WV Runners is proud to announce the selection of Emily Godwin of Buckhannon-Upshur and Jacob Burcham of Cabell Midland as West Virginia Track and Field athletes of the year. This year was an easy choice for both boys and girls. Sophomores Godwin and Burcham stood out in the 2011 season which had many great performances and achievements. Osbourn Park girls, a pre-season top 10 ranked team in Virginia, are making a return trip to Pennsylvania.
(Photo by Lance McDaniel) Jacob Burcham has done it again! At the IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille, France Burcham represented this great state and country in phenomenal fashion. He placed an amazing 7th among the international competitors in the 1500 with a smoking time of 3:46.55! That's equivalent to a 4:04 mile! That's crazy fast...especially for an upcoming high school junior. Simply amazing! My congratulations to Jacob and his coach! I can't wait for cross country season!
