  • Tennant Places 10th and 15th at Nike Outdoor Nationals

    Zach Tennant a recent graduate of North Marion High School placed 10th at the Nike Outdoor Nationals (NON) in the 1500m enroute mile with a time of 3:59.19 and finished the mile in 15th place in 4:19.09. The meet was held at North Carolina A&T University.   • Grandt Earns All-America Honors

      Clara Grandt - photo courtsy of MSNsportsNet.com   By Allison Hoehn for MSNsportsNet.com June 11, 2009   MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia University track and field junior Clara Grandt finished fourth in the 10,000-meter finals at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors Thursday night at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Ark.   Grandt ran the race in 33:45.16 to earn her first All-America honor. Providence’s Donette Doetzel won the race in 33:25.71 followed by Cecily Lemmon of Brigham Young (33:39.97), and Anita Campbell of Washington (33:43.33).   “I’m very happy about it,” Grandt says. “I’ve come so far these past few years and this has been such a positive experience.”   Click on the title for the rest of the press release.

  • Zach Tennant Posts 3rd Fastest U.S. Time in 1500m at MileStat.com Elite Gala

    Zach Tennant a Senior from North Marion blasted the competition by 9 seconds in the 1500m run with a time of 3:54.89 at the MileStat.com Elite Track Gala held Saturday at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, VA.  This was the 3rd fastest time run in the Nation for High School athletes.   Tennant, who recently set new West Virginia State Track Meet records in the 1600m and 3200m will be continuing his outstandng track and field career in the State of Virginia as he accepted an offer from William and Mary.   Photo Courtesy of MileStat.com

  • College Signings (updated 7/27/09)

    (check the link below for new updates ) 6/03/09 Now that Track and Field season is over and summer vacations are approaching, attention is turned to next season. Many of our West Virginia cross country and track and field senior athletes are heading off to colleges and universities to pursue and extend their running careers. My last additions are from Alderson-Broaddus College and Concord University. Heather McDaniel of Alderson-Broaddus just announced the signings of Sherry Borsos of Buckeye Local High School in Ohio, Victoria McBride of Frankfort and Andrea Sall of Parkersburg. Concord's Mike Cox reported that Devin Morgan of Greenbrier East will be joining his teammate Brad Dugan as the latest Mountain Lion addition.   Please send me any college signings you have.   Here is the latest list by athlete and by West Virginia Colleges and Universities.   West Virginia XC and Track and Field College Signings
