Competing at the Nike Outdoor Nationals is an honor for any track and field athlete. West Virginia was represented by four outstanding athletes with national credentials. Even though the athletes may be disappointed in their performances, we are all proud of them for their contributions to track and field and know this experience will make them better competitors and individuals.
No West Virginians competed in the opening day of the 2006 Nike Outdoor Nationals. The only high school event of the night was the 5000 Meter Run--first ever at NON. Bona Jones of Florida won the girls race all alone in 16:57. Ben Massam of New Jersey took the more competitive boys with a time of 14:48.
Don\'t take the summer off. Road racing action is under way. Check out the latest results. We will be posting elite performances for road races. Also, people are finding their way to the forum for some good discussions and information. The forum is a good place to learn about upcoming meets and have discussions about various topics.
The Mile Split Network is pleased to announce that it will provide LIVE video coverage of the Nike Outdoor Nationals. In addition to the on-site coverage at the meet that we have provided for several years, we have come to an agreement with the National Scholastic Sports Foundation (NSSF) to broadcast the meet live to you. Over the three days of the meet (June 15-17, 2006) you will be able to see the events as they happen, all from the comfort of your home. This broadcast will be available at no charge and will not require a subscription to enjoy. Each state site on the Network will have a prominent link to the broadcast during the three days of the meet. We look forward to providing our audience with this service. A special thanks to the NSSF and North Carolina A&T University\'s staff for making this possible.
