USA Track & Field Junior Olympic Championships

After the first day of competition in the Girls 17-18 Heptathlon Capital City Strider Emily Godwin of Buchannon WV after four events is firmly in second place behind Kendall Gustafson of California.
Godwin has 2831 points and Gustafson 2911. Godwin will attempt to pass Gustafson tomorrows Javelin, Long Jump and 800 M competition.
Today Godwin ran the 100 H in 15.64, Shot Put 31’ 7.25”, High Jump a winning 5’ 7 ¾” and ran a 27.00 in the 200M.

Capital City Striders Youth Track & Field Team representing West Virginia at the USA Track & Field Junior Olympics at Morgan State University in Baltimore MD begins competition Monday with one of its highest ranked athletes, Emily Godwin of Buchannon in the 17 -18 Women’s Heptathlon. Godwin’s score of 4716 in the USA Track & Field Junior Nationals at Indiana University in June has her ranked second going into Monday’s competition. Godwin will also be competing in the High Jump on Friday.
