Fort Hill Boys, Keyser Girls Win AMAC Championships

 

The Fort Hill boys and the Keyser girls track teams finished first at the AMAC Championships on April 25th, 2012 at Keyser High School Track in Keyser, WV.

On the boy’s side, Dylan & Garrett Clay led the way for the Fort Hill boys’ track team. Dylan won the 100-meter dash in 10.94, while Garrett placed second in 11.14. Dylan then won the 200-meter dash in 23.47, while Garrett placed second again in 23.86. Garrett placed second in the 400-meter dash in 52.51, while Dylan placed fourth in 53.81.

Also for Fort Hill, Dakota Hamilton won the 300-meter hurdles in 41.19; Noah Candler and Joey Turbin finished 1-2 in the pole vault in 10-00.00 and 9-06.00; the 4x100-meter relay team won in 46.59; the 4x200-meter relay team placed second in 1:36.64; the 4x400-meter relay team won in 3:35.89; Trae Miller & David Linaburg finished 2-3 in the 1600-meter run in 4:46.00 & 4:53.82; and Shane Ickes placed third in the 3200-meter run in 10:37.51.

Other meet performances: Breyer Hillegas of Allegany won the 400-meter dash in 52.30; Brandon Redmond of Mountain Ridge won the 800-meter run in 2:07.40; Hlynur Andresson of Mountain Ridge won the 1600- & 3200-meter run in 4:38.42 & 10:15.69; Mikey Skipper of Southern Garrett County  won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.28; Keyser’s 4x200-meter relay team won in 1:35.09; Mountain Ridge’s 4x800-meter relay team won in 8:34.83; Keyser won the shuttle hurdles in 1:08.30; Tyler Hamilton of Keyser won the shot put in 41-01.00; Levi Moreland of Hampshire won the discus throw in 146-00; James Flint of Keyser won the high jump in 5-10.00; Chris Murdock of Northern Garrett County won the long jump in 18-08.00; Jordan Evans of Northern Garrett County won the triple jump in 36-02.25.

On the girl’s side, Bria Welker & Katie Jan of Frankfort High School, also known as the “Dynamic Duo” strikes again at AMAC Championships!

The Urban dictionary defines “The Dynamic Duo” as two people who are really close or are always together. They do anything and everything together, and when they are together they dominate anything and everyone!

Bria and Katie were runnin’ some serious times on the track today, they totally dominated the field. They were "the Dynamic Duo!"

Bria Welker, a junior, won the 100-meter dash in a PR of 12.25, the 200-meter dash in 25.90, the 400-meter dash in 1:00.54, and the Long Jump in 16-03.75 inches. She scored forty points for the Lady Falcons and had the only performance of the meet for high school girls that met the national silver standard. Her silver standard performance was in the 100-meter dash.

As a freshman, Welker was the Class AA Girls West Virginia High School State Champion in the 200-meter dash in 25.65, in the 400-meter dash in 57.71, and in the Long Jump in 16-10.5. She also placed second in the 100-meter dash in 12.51.

Welker is considered the early favorite at this year’s Class AA Girls West Virginia State Meet in the 100-, 200-, 400-meter dash, and the Long Jump.

Katie Jan, a junior, won the 800-meter run in 2:22.60 and the 1600-meter run in 5:24.50. Jan also placed second to teammate Bria Welker in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.64.

Jan is considered the early favorite at this year’s Class AA Girls West Virginia State Meet in the 800- and 1600-meter run. She is the defending State Champion in the 800-meter run.

Other Meet Performances, Rachel Lipps of Hampshire won the 3200-meter run in 12:11.00; Jenna Westfall of Hampshire won the 100 Meter Hurdles in 16:22; Ashley Murphy of Northern Garrett County won the 300 Meter Hurdles in 49.29; Keyser won the 4x100 Meter Relay in 52.52; Hampshire won the 4x200 Meter Relay in 1:52.70; Mountain Ridge won the 4x400 & 4x800 Meter Relays in 4:15.10 & 10:02.60; Mountain Ridge won the 4x102.5 Meter Shuttle Hurdle in 1:15.10; Julia Moran won the Triple Jump in 31-05.50 inches; Kendra Johnson won the Shot Put & Discus Throw in 32-04.75 inches & 92-03 inches; Brittany Maphis of Hampshire won the high jump in 4-08.00; Nicole Walch of Southern Garrett County won the Pole Vault in 7-00.00 feet.
