Cam Viney a senior at Elkins High School came up big at last years WV State Track Meet, by winning high point honors over an elite field of Jacob Burcham of Cabell Midland, Brandon Doughty of Jefferson, and Dante Price of Jefferson. Viney earned thirty-six points out of a possible forty, while Burcham finished second with thirty-two, Doughty with twenty-six and a half, Price with twenty-four and a half, and Jacob Reynolds of Cabell Midland rounded out the top five with twenty-two.

With four out of the five top AAA boys returning, Burcham and Price are looking to chase down Viney for high point honors. If spring is any indication of what is to come, then Viney is having none of that, he has already begun his quest to be the best.

Viney “a sprinter/hurdle specialist” is the defending WV State Champion in the 400 meter dash and 300 meter hurdles, and was State Runner-up in the 200 meter dash and 110 meter hurdles.

In case you lost count, he placed first fifteen times and second once in the first four meets of the 2012 track season! That's quite an impressive resume for Viney as every time he runs it seems to turn into gold.
