Jefferson Boys Show Strength at Battlefield Blast

Frankfort’s Welker Puts on a Show in the Girl’s Events

The Jefferson High School boys track team posted a dominating performance at Saturday’s Dwight Scott Battlefield Blast in Boonsboro, MD.  Competing in a twenty team field, Jefferson posted the team victory by a score of 104 to 56 over second place Mt. Hebron High School.   Jefferson rode to victory on the strength of their sprinters and distance runners, scoring first place finishes in six events and second place finishes in two other events.  Along the way, Jefferson set meet records in three events including the 200 M Dash (Dante Price, 22.24 seconds into a brisk wind), the 4 X 100 Relay (Dante Price, Ashton Lai-Fang, Tyler Lambert and Ashton Hyler, 43.49) and the 4 X 200 Relay (Dante Price, Ashton Lai-Fang, Tyler Lambert and Ashton Hyler, 1:31.70, breaking the previous meet record by 1.6 seconds).  Dante Price also won in the 100 M Dash (11.38).  Other Jefferson highlights included the 1600 M Run as Andrew Milliron and Ryan Graf battled to the line with Milliron nipping Graf at the finish by 0.25 seconds with a winning time of 4:32.83.  The 1600 was one of six races where Jefferson had multiple runners score including the 110 M and 300 M Hurdles.  Lane Simpson scored in both Hurdles races supported by Warren Gray in the 110 M Hurdles and Curtis Chiswell in the 300.
