Tell us how your training is going?

My summer training is going well. I've been working hard and I'm excited for the upcoming season.


 

 

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

My goals for the upcoming season would be to place first at the State Cross Country Meet, and place well at Footlocker South.

 

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I started running in 7th grade, and I decided to start running because one of my cousins used to run and it looked like fun.
 

Will you be competing out of state this season?

I plan to compete at the Footlocker South Regional in North Carolina.

 

Favorite course to run in West Virginia?

My favorite course to run is the Geico Classic and State Meet Course at Cabel Midland.
 

 

Toughest course in West Virgina?

The toughest course would probably be the course at Cameron because of its multiple creek crossings and hilly areas in the woods.

 

Favorite Cross Country race so far in your high school career?

My favorite cross country race so far was the 2009 State Cross Country Meet. Running in all the mud and rain was fun.

 

Favorite Cross Country memory?

My favorite cross country memory is when my team and I won the A-AA State Championship my freshman year.

 

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

When I'm not running, I like to bake, read, and spend time with family and friends.

Tell us how your training is going?

I’ve put a lot of miles in this summer and hopefully it will pay off in the end.

 

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

To have a winning season and to become Richwood’s first state champion in cross-country.

 

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I got started by running the mile in 3rd grade.  My father took me to races on the weekends.

Shady Spring’s cross-country course at Little Beaver State Park

 

Toughest course in West Virgina?

Nicholas County’s Battle Run course at Summersville Lake

 

Favorite Cross Country race so far in your high school career?

The State Championship race at Cabell-Midland High School

 

Favorite Cross Country memory?

Going into the State Cross-Country Meet as #1 in the state in A-AA.  I finished as the runner-up.

 

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

Watching NASCAR and hunting

 

Favorite quote?

Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months, and years they spend preparing for it.  The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character.

Tell us how your training is going?

My summer training has been going very well with no injuries and a consistent mileage, with increasingly better workout times.

 

 

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

Overall my goal for this season are to finish up second in the state, hopefully qualifying for footlocker finals and to run under 15:40.

 

 

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I have been running since I was in sixth grade, and I started by having my middle school track coach persistently ask me to run cross country.

 

 

Will you be competing out of state this season?

Yes, I will be competing out of state this season.

 

 

Favorite course to run in West Virginia?

My favorite course would have to be the state meet course in Ona, West Virginia.
 

 

Toughest course in West Virgina?

The toughest course by far in our state is the Preston Moutian Top Combo.

 

 

Favorite Cross Country race so far in your high school career?

Personally, my favorite cross country race of high school is the footlocker regional in Greensboro, NC.

 

Favorite Cross Country memory?

Favorite cross country memory is coming down the straight away at states knowing I was going to be all state.
 

 

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

 When not running, I usually find myself road biking around town on the trails.

Tell us how your training is going?

Really good, I am close to reaching my goal of 500 workout miles this summer and have improved my times a great deal.  
 
 

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

I am hoping to run in the 18:30’s this season.
 

 

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

This will be my third year running XC. I started in 8th grade at West Preston Middle after my friends convinced me to run with them for fun.
 

 

Will you be competing out of state this season?

Yes, we have races scheduled in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and possibly New York.

 

Favorite course to run in West Virgina?

My favorite course in West Virginia would have to be the Cabell Midland course. The scenery is pretty and the atmosphere at the course is always exciting.
 

 

Toughest course in West Virgina?

I personally think that our course at Preston High is one of the toughest because it has so many hills.

 

Favorite Cross Country race so far in your high school career?

My favorite race so far was the State Race at Cabell Midland because I did really well, it was exciting, and it was my mom’s birthday. 

 

Favorite Cross Country memory?

My favorite XC memory was at Wheeling Park at Regional’s last year. This was the first race we wore our pink, breast cancer awareness uniforms. Everyone was really excited to wear them, it showed our support, and our whole team raced well.

 

 

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

When I’m not running I like to play soccer and basketball with my sister Whitney.

My dad made up a quote for me last season, “Take names, kick butt, and cash the checks”.

Tell us how your training is going?

Summer training is going really well. I haven't had any injures (serious at least) to get in the way. I can't wait to see how it pays off.
 

 

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

My goals this season are to acheive all state honors and break 16 minutes in a 5k.

 

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

I've been running since 6th grade just for something to do but only getting serious my freshman year.

 

Will you be competing out of state this season?

Yes, we have a few out of state meets this season.

 

Favorite course to run in West Virgina?

The state meet course is definately my favorite course.

 

Toughest course in West Virgina?

Moundsville, handsdown. Its not famous for being hard so the surprise is the worst part.
 

 

Favorite Cross Country race so far in your high school career?

Geico classsic 2010. I felt smooth and fast though the entire race and got a PR there as well.

 

Favorite Cross Country memory?

My favorite XC memory is freshman year at an East Fairmont NCAC meet. This race my coach had one of the older guys pull me through the race. It was just awesome to be in the same race as them for the first time.
 

 

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

When I'm not running I love to bike. Road or trails its all awesome.

Tell us how your training is going?

Training has been going great. I’m running about 60-65 miles per week right now in preparation for a halfmarathon on August 20 before the cross country season starts.  I’ve been totally injury free, and took 17s off my 5K time at the NB Outdoor Nationals.
 

 

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

My goals are to improve my times on the courses we ran last year, to get 1st in the WV A-AA state meet, and to get top ten in Footlocker South Regional.
 

 

How long have you been running and how did you get started?

This will be my fifth year running.  I started cross country in 7th grade because a friend asked me to do it with her.  I had no idea what it was but I fell in love with it and now, here I am.


 

Will you be competing out of state this season?

I’ll be running in a meet in Kentucky, and do the Footlocker South Regionals. Otherwise, all my meets will be in WV.

 

Favorite course to run in West Virgina?

My favorite course so far is the Chick-Fil-A meet in Mineral Wells.
 

 

Toughest course in West Virgina?

The toughest course I’ve done is a really tiny meet at St. Albans, which is pretty intense single track trail.

 

Favorite Cross Country race so far in your high school career?

My favorite race was at the Chick-Fil-A Meet last year.  I just felt good, and although I got 2nd, it was a cross country PR for me

 

Favorite Cross Country memory?

 My favorite memory was probably last year running the state meet with my team, because the year before I was by myself.  It was great to start with all of the girls I’d been starting with all season.
 

 

When you are not running what is your favorite thing to do?

I love to do math, and am always looking for difficult problems to work on.
