Wheeling Jesuit Picked To Win WVIAC Men's Cross Country Title

PRINCETON, W. Va. – The Wheeling Jesuit men’s cross country team was selected to win the WVIAC Championship, in a poll of the WVIAC coaches as announced by the league office.

The Cardinals picked up nine of the 11 first-place votes and one second-place nod for 118 total points after winning the 2010 crown.

WV Wesleyan was chosen second in the poll as the Bobcats totaled nine second-place ballots. The Bobcats concluded the 2010 season in second place at the WVIAC meet.

The Mountain Lions of Concord were right on the heels of the Bobcats with 101 points. CU’s point tally put them in third place. The Mountain Lions garnered the other two first-place votes.

Seton Hill was chosen fourth in the poll with 90 points while Alderson-Broaddus was selected fifth after picking up 76 points. The teams finished in the same spots at the 2010 conference championship.

Glenville State ran away with 54 points for sixth. The Pioneers also finished in sixth at the 2010 WVIAC Championship.

Davis & Elkins and Ohio Valley tied for seventh with 44 total points.

Just behind the Senators and Fighting Scots were the Hilltoppers, who notched 42 points in the poll for ninth place.

Fairmont State picked up 38 points for 10th and Bluefield State rounded out the poll after receiving 12 points.
