Sophomores Rachel Buser and Levi Grandt Shine at Foot Locker

Berkeley Springs Sophomore Rachel Buser continued her post season charge as she was the highest finishing West Virginian at the 27th annual Foot Locker South Region held at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, North Carolina on November 26, 2005. Buser the 2005 West Virginia Group AA State Champion finished 29th in the Seeded race with a fast time of 18:08. Nichole Jones of Houston Texas won the title with a time of 17:10. Kate Niehaus of Columbia South Carolina would edge out Aurora Scott of Chesapeake Virginia for the runner-up spot as they both posted times of 17:15. The top 10 finishers in the Seeded race advance to the Foot Locker Nationals.

Levi Grandt of the Doddridge County Bulldogs made the Foot Locker All-South Sophomore team with his runner-up finish competing in the Sophomore Boys race with an impressive time of 16:03. Grandt who was 5th at the West Virginia Group AA State Championship led the West Virginia contingent. After the impressive finish to his cross country season, Grandt should be a top contender at Foot Locker over the next two years.

Freshman Cory Hampshire of Jefferson made the Foot Locker South All-Freshman team with his 13th place finish in the freshman race in a time of 16:57. Senior Lucas Unger of Berkeley Springs just missed being named to the All-Senior team with his 26th place finish in the Senior race in 16:38. Brandon Miles of Grafton put up an elite time of 16:29 in the Seeded race. In the girls seeded race, Maria Dalzot of Morgantown High finished 50th in 18:33.00
