WV Region IV AAA Recap

Reynolds and Burcham Lead Cabell Midland to Victory

 

 

Valerie Kirk led the Winfield girls to the WV Region IV AAA title with wins in both hurdle events. Winfield accumulated 111 points to runner up Hurricane's 96.5 points. Jacob Reynold and Jacob Burcham each scored impressive triple individual victories to lead Cabell Midland to the region title with 128 points to Parkersburg South's 112 points.

 

Kirk, a senior, won the 100m hurdles in 15.16 and then took the 300m hurdle award with a time of 46.98.

 

Leading Hurricane to the region runner-up designation was Megan Turley with wins in both throws events. Turly heaved the shot put 35' 10' and the discus 110' 6".

 

Talequia Hamilton, a senior, from Huntington was a double winner in both jumping events. Hamilton cleared the bar in the high jump in 5' 2" and leaped 17' 3.75" in the long jump.

 

In every running event that did not use a hurdle from 100m to 3200m was won by two outstanding performers from Cabell Midland to pace Cabell MIdland with almost half their team's ponits. Jacob Reynolds collected 30 points and 3 titles as he swept the dashes with wins in the 100m (11.05), 200m (22.47), and 400m (50.41). Jacob Burcham claimed all 3 distance events and tallied 30 points in winning the 800m in 1:56.89  (a MIlesplit national silver standard), the 1600m in 4:27.18 and the 3200m in 9:43.30.

 

Junior A.J. White of Hurricane came away with 2 impressive wins and earned Milesplit national silver standards in the shot put with a toss of 53' 3.5" and in the discus with a throw of 158' 9".

 

Two other Milesplit national silver standards were met when senior Zach Shreve posted a winning time of 14.52 in the 110m high hurdles and Junior Cam Jividen took the 300m hurdles in 38.73.
