USA Track and Field Youth Regional Records Broken!

The Capital City Striders Track & Field teams youth division competed and made a mark at the USA Track & Field Region 5 Championships at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond KY this past week end.

 

Sprinters Jontavese Brown of Charleston, Torrie Starcher of Ripley and Nathan Barham of South Charleston set  the tone for USATF National qualification with dominating performances in their age groups:

 

Starcher torched the field in 8 and under girls 100m in 15.49 sec.   and 400m in 1:16.34 

Barham did like wise in the 8 and under boys  100m  15.19 sec. and the 400 in  1:14.73

 

Both breaking Regional records in the 100M

 

Young Striders – Samuel Thomas of Charleston  11-12 boys and Jontavese Brown 9-10 captured three Gold Medals each.

   

Brown in the 10 and under boys 1^st  100 14.27 sec.,200m in 29.47  & 400 in 1:08.63

Thomas in the 11-12 boys 1500m 1^st  5:12.92 , 3000m in 10:53.60 and lastly the 800m in 2:29.75

 

Triple qualifications and two Gold by Abe Marinar of Bridgeport  winning the 13-14 boys 1500 1^st 4.54, 3000m in 10:47.23 then wrapping it up with a Silver in the 800 2:20.21

Zion Freshour of Charleston 10 – 9 boys  Triatalon 1^st  336 points   High Jump 2^nd  .96m  Shot Put 6lb  1^st  6.69m

 

Double qualifiers:

 

Mark Britton, of Pennsboro 17-18 boys discus throw 1st  52.83m and 1^st Shot Put at 15.16m       

Trenton Williams of Winfield 10 – 9 boys 1500m 3rd  5:57.15 and 2^nd in the 800 in 2:50.61

Jaden Barrett of St Albans  10 -9  boys triathlon  2^nd  279 points  High Jump 1^st .96m

Cassidy Osborne-Butler of Charleston, 11-12 girls shot put 1^st  9.99m and Discus 1^st

Lauren London, Hurricane 13-14 girls Pole Vault 1^st  2.6m

Cody Sheppard, Red House  13-14 boys 100m hurdles 3^rd  17.81 sec

Alaysia Powell, Dunbar 13-14 girls High Jump 2^nd 1.45m

Emily Hudson, Hurricane 13-14 girls 200m hurdles 2^nd in 34.01

  

2^nd Place  Boys 4x100 Relay Avery Bruer, Zachary Cohen & Trenton Williams    1:13.96

 

Daniel Brown of Huntington Tri State AC also qualified in the 100m in 11.02  sec. and 200m in 22.96
