WV Region II AAA – Weston.  Karissa Knabenshue, a junior, led Buckhannon-Upshur to the Region II AAA championship by winning both throw events with National Elite performances. Knabenshue threw a personal best 126’1” in the discus and tossed the shot put 39’6.5”. Jefferson was 2nd with 118 points and Washington took 3rd with 66 points.

 

Letitia Propst a junior from Elkins pulled off the distance triple in winning the 800m (2:20.21), 1600m (5:23.25) and 3200m (11:47.05).  Sophomore Jasmyn Hosby of Washington won both the 100m (12.58) and the 200m (25.91).

  

Hedgesville Senior boys with 121 points and led by senior Chris Deaner edged Jefferson (120 points) for the Region II AAA title. Deaner won two events with National Elite performances in the 300m high hurdles (39.26) and the high jump with a jump of 6’-6”. Runner-up Jefferson was led by Brandon Doughty who like Propst pulled off the distance triple by winning the 800m (1:58.32), 1600m (4:31.37) and 3200m (10:01.54). Freshman sensation Dante Price of Jefferson pulled off a sprint double win in the 100m dash in 11.40 and the 200m dash in 22.89. Elkins would claim 3rd place with 71 points.

  

There were a total of 7 Milesplit National Elites at the Region II AAA meet.
