Day 3 PM Session Recap: Lynna Irby Runs U.S No. 1 in the 400m to grab silver

Lynna Irby, the multi-event IN State champion grabs silver in the 400m final

In the finals of the girls 400m, Lynna Irby (IN) runs U.S No. 1 51.79 to place second. Her previous best before this race was 52.77. This past year, Irby won the 100m, 200, and 400m at the IHSAA Outdoor State meet.

In the guy’s 400m final, Josephus Lyles (VA) and Keshun Reed ( TX) placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. Lyles ran U.S No. 2 45.46 to place second, while Keshun Reed ran 45.96 to place third.

Sammy Watson used her signature speed to safely advance to the finals of the 800m

In the girls 800m semis, Sammy Watson ( NY) advanced to the final by winning heat 1 of 2. The race went out in a brisk 69 second first lap; however, Watson was able to use her 400m speed to throw down a 61.04 last quarter to advance in 2:10.89. Watson was both the indoor and outdoor New Balance National Champion in this event.


Finish from boys 110m Hurdle final

In the 110m Hurdle finals, Isaiah Lucas(TX) ran 13.54 to take 3rd. First and second/Third were separated by a hundredth of an second while 2nd and 3rd were separated by mere thousandths of a second.
