West Virginia Single A Produces Top Performances

Williamstown and Doddridge County were the elite of the field. Drazba, Swiger,Postlewaite and Rich set new West Virginia records

Williamstown girls took the Single A in easy fashion over the Doddridge County girls with 114 points. The lady Bulldogs tallied 67 points.

Andrea Chidester led Williamstown with 32 points and had two 1st place finishes. Chidester sprinted to victory in the 100 meter dash in 12.69 and the 400 meter dash in 58.66. She was edged in the 200 meter dash finishing 2nd in 26.25. Chidester added a 4th place finish in the long jump with a leap of 15’ 9.5”. 

Megan Steele gave Willaimstown a 1st place in the high jump in 5-02.00, and Lincoln Postlewaite added a 1st place in the pole vault in 10’ 7” which was a new State Meet record.

Doddridge County girls took the single A West Virginia State runner-up trophy. D’Andra Swiger  was the meet high point performer with 37 points. Swiger had three 1st place finishes with one State record, and captured a 2nd place finish. Swiger was 1st in the 200m in 26.18, 1st in the 300m hurdles in 45.41 and a new WV State meet record, 1st in the long jump in 17-02.00, and had a 2nd place tie in the high jump at 5-00.00.              

 

West Virginia's Greatest Distance Runner of all time, Maggie Drazba, was a triple winner

Maggie Drazba of St. Marys and a Foot Locker finalist swept the distance events in winning the 800m (2:21.42), 1600m (5:03.53) and the 3200m in a record breaking time of 10:31.83 which is the fastest time ever in the 3200m over all classifications smashing the previous record of 10:49.15, held by Ari Kasprowitz of Preston,  by over 17 seconds.

 

Doddridge County Boys Slam the Field in Team Effort 121 Points

Doddridge County won 3 individual events and had a strong team effort to pull off another State championship for the Bulldogs from West Union. ”. Dillon Muhly-Alexander led Doddridge County with  28.5 points led the team in points. Muhly-Alexander took the State title in the 110 meter hurdles in 15.77. He added two second place finishes in the high jump with a height of 6’ 0”, and with a leap of 21’ 1.25” in the long jump. Muhly-Alexander was also a member of the winning shuttle hurdle relay team.  Issac Britton placed 1st in the discus with a throw of 147’ 11”. Doddridge County went 1-2 in the 110m hurdles. Following Muhly-Alexander was 2nd place finisher Daniel Plaugher in 16.01. Plaugher also won the 300m high hurdles in 41.09.

Williamstown boys took the 2nd place trophy with 73 points. Williamstown did not have any individual winners, but they dominated the relay events winning three and adding a 4th place finish. They won the 4x100 meter rlay in 44.69. The 4x 100 meter team consisted of Jarric Hoskins, Mathew Zlatkind, Trace Hart, and Mitchell Goertler. The 4 x200 meter relay team claimed first in 1:33.30 with Jarric Hoskins, Mathew Zlatkind, Trace Hart, and Mitchell Goertler.  The 4 x 400 meter relay team captured the other State title with a time of 3:35.22. Members were Jarric Hoskins, Marshall Williams, Kohen Mossor, and Jason Lockhart. The 4th place finish was in the 4 x 800m with a time of 8:37.11.

Dylan Rich of Buffalo stole the show winning 3 individual events (800m, 1600, and 3200m), and 1 relay event ( 4 x 800m) gathering 32.5 points. Rich set a new West Virginia Single A State meet record in winning the 800m with the new standard of 1:56.69. Rich was 1st in the 1600m in 4:23.19 while missing the record by .01 seconds of which he owns the record in 4:23.18. Rich added the triple sweep of the distance events by winning the 3200m in 9:41.54.
