Morgantown High School cross-country and distance runner Brynn Harshbarger has committed to run for West Virginia University this coming season.  Harshbarger joins Maggie Drazba as elite West Virginia High School seniors who will be running for the Mountaineers this coming season.

Harshbarger is a leader in the excellent Morgantown girls running program.  With career bests of 18:02.9 in 5k cross-country and 2.26.8 (800m), 5.12.2 (1600m) and 10:57.3 (3200m), Harshbarger brings great speed and strength to the Mountaineer women’s program.

In 2012, Harshbarger capped off her senior cross-county season by finishing second at the West Virginia State Championships and leading her team to a second straight girls’ AAA title.  Earlier that year, she posted an impressive performance at the State Track & Field Championships, winning the 3200m run in 11:22.3 and taking third in the 1600 with a time of 5:12.2.  Since the end of cross-county season, Brynn has stayed busy and competitive at the regional and national level winning the 3200m with her personal best at the Akron Rubber City Open meet in February followed by a PR (11:11.4) in the 2 mile run at the New Balance Indoor Nationals.

No doubt she has set her sights even higher for her final track season at Morgantown.  Good luck to Brynn this season and in seasons ahead as she competes for the Mountaineers!
